Colorado Divorce Laws | Children Custody

Colorado

When minor children are involved in the dissolution of marriage process, the Colorado courts will do everything possible to help lessen the emotional trauma the children may be experiencing. If the parents cannot come to an agreement regarding the issues involving the children, the court will establish the custody order at its discretion. In certain cases, the courts may, upon a motion by either party or by the courts themselves, appoint an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado to legally serve as a representative of the child. The attorney would represent the best interests of the child in any domestic relations disputes that involve potential support or visitation responsibilities of the child.
