Perks to Being Newly SingleBeing newly single isn’t always a walk in the park, particularly if you weren’t the person, who wanted to call an end to the relationship. While it can hurt saying goodbye to a significant other or spouse, there is an upside in the amount of perks that become available to you as a result. You may not realize they’re perks just yet, but in time, you will. Let’s look at eight.

No more sharing the television

When you care about someone, it’s not uncommon to watch some of the things they like that you would never dream of watching just to show you care. For example, I love my wife dearly, but never watching another episode of Survivor wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Similarly, if we were no longer together, I’m sure she would miss every future episode of Longmire and Daredevil. When you’re single, this is one shot you get to call again, and while small, it can be an incredible spirit lifter.

Cheaper to live

When you’re newly single — especially if there are no children, child support, or alimony involved — it’s much cheaper to live. In fact, you might find yourself spending less than 50 percent of what you used to at the grocery store. This is true mostly among guys, who purchase less bathroom products by and large.

New people, new possibilities

In other words, this is your time to remake your life into something fresh. All those things that annoyed you about your ex? You can start dating different types of people, and when you hear from them via phone or text, it’s a lot more exciting than the going-through-the-motions contacts that you and your SO once made.

Obsessiveness … you no longer have to worry about it

This one is especially true if you had a partner, who was extremely jealous or browbeat you into an argument every couple of weeks. Once the relationship is over, you can act without fear of how they will respond. That means flirting with whom you’d like to flirt and putting the toilet paper on the roll how you like it.

No more relationship guilt

One thing that you probably feel guilty about is staying in bed long after your spouse or SO has gotten up. Here they are bustling about the house, cleaning up and doing laundry and you’re laying there like a human slug. Well, once your relationship is over, slug on! Stay in bed all day if you don’t have anywhere to be, and do it without feeling guilty about it.
