Ten Most Expensive Celebrity DivorcesCelebritynetworth.com has come out with a list of the ten most expensive celebrity divorces of all time. We wanted to expand a bit more the only list that could make getting a divorce seem like not such a bad thing.

1.) Rupert Murdoch and Anna Murdoch.  Ms. Murdoch was awarded $1.7 billion

Rupert met Anna Maria Torv while she was working as a cadet journalist for his Sydney newspaper The Daily Telegraph. Together they had three children: Elisabeth, Lachlan and James. No one is quite sure why the two divorced, but 17 days after the divorce, Rupert did marry Chinese-born Deng Wendi, the newly appointed vice-president of his STAR TV.

2.) Mel Gibson and Robyn Denise Moore.  Ms. Moore was awarded $425 million.

Mel met Robyn in the late 1970’s shortly after filming Mad Max. They married on June 7th, 1980 and currently have one daughter and six sons. Robyn filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences  in 2006, following Mel’s arrest for drunk driving in Malibu. Their divorce settlement is the highest in Hollywood history.

3.) Michael Jordan and Juanita Jordan. Ms. Jordan was awarded approximately $260 million.

Michael and Juanita married in 1989. They have two sons: Jeffrey and Marcus. Michael and Juanita in 2002, citing irreconcilable differences, but reconciled shortly after. They again filed for divorce in 2006 and were granted a final decree of dissolution of marriage on December 6th of that same year.

4.) Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver.  Ms. Shriver was awarded $200 million.

On April 26, 1986, Arnold married then television journalist Maria Shriver, niece of President John F. Kennedy, in Massachusetts. They have four children together. Shriver and Schwarzenegger separated in May, 2011 after it was revealed that Arnold fathered a child with their housekeeper.

5.) Neil Diamond and Marcia Murphey.  Ms. Murphey was awarded $150 million.

Neil married Marcia, a production assistant. The two have two sons together. Not much is known about while they filed for divorce, and sources differ on the date, but they divorced between 1994 and 1995.

6.) Harrison Ford and Melissa Matheson.  Ms. Matheson was awarded $118 million.

Ford is known as one of Hollywood’s most private actors. His private life is so guarded that very little is known about his marriage and divorce to Melissa, other than the fact that the couple had to sons together.

7.) Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren.  Ms. Nordegren was awarded $100 million.

If you haven’t heard about Tiger’s car crash and Elin smashing his car window with  golf club when she found out about his philandering ways, then you’ve been living under a rock. The Swedish model made off with more than a hundred million when the two split.

8.) Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving.  Ms. Irving was awarded $100 million.

Spielberg and Irving were only married for four years, from 1985 to 1989. Amy received such a large settlement because the judge vacated a prenuptial agreement written on a napkin.

9.) Madonna and Guy Ritchie.  Mr. Ritchie was awarded $92 million.

Madonna filed for divorce from Ritchie in December of 2006, citing irreconcilable differences. Not much else is know about the divorce other than the 92 million dollar settlement.

10.) Kevin Costner and Cindy Silva.  Ms. Silva was awarded $80 million.

And finally, we come to Robin Hood himself. Costner met Silva while in college and married three years later in 1978. Not much is known about their divorce process other than the settlement.
